Older Adult Services is to enhance the lives of the older adults in Dare County and their families. Older Adult Services offers a variety of programs including volunteer opportunities, Outer Banks Senior Games, home-delivered meals, assistance completing tax returns, health screenings, recreational programs, transportation services (with advance notice) and arts and crafts classes. Older Adult Services Advisory Council - This Advisory Council meets to review and advise Dare County Older Adult Services. The Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills, the Fessenden Center in Buxton, and The Dare County Center are the three facilities that coordinate the activities.
Nutrition Program The nutrition program’s purpose is to promote, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of older adults through the provision of a nutritionally balanced meal five days per week served in a congregate setting or delivered to the home. Meals are now being served at the Dare County Center Monday-Friday, except holidays.
