The
Dare County Parks & Recreation Department mission
statement is committed to providing quality parks &
recreation facilities, programs, and leisure opportunities
for the citizens of Dare County.
Our Vision Statement is building community through people,
parks, and recreational opportunities.
The Dare County Parks & Recreation Department was created in
January of 1984. It consisted of a director, part-time
secretary and a $70,000 budget. Today the
department has a budget of 2.1 million dollars and
twenty-seven full-time employees who serve the citizens of
Dare County from three divisional offices. The Hatteras
Island Division is served from the Fessenden Center in
Buxton, the Northern Beach Division is served through the
office at the Youth Center at Dare County Family Recreation
Park in Kill Devil Hills and the Roanoke Island/Mainland
Division is served through the office at the Lions Club
Center at Westcott Park in Manteo.
The Public Services Director, Tim White administers the
department through the Superintendent of Parks and the three
Division Coordinators who work together to coordinate
activity and facility needs on a daily basis.
Parks and Recreation will accept cash, check, MC, VISA,
AMEX, DISC and debit cards as payment for Parks and
Recreation programs. Programs and activities that are
co-sponsored require separate forms and only checks are
accepted. |
