The Dare County tax files are self-extracting compressed files. Each file is named xxName.exe with xx representing the tax district number. After downloading the file or files that you need onto your hard drive, the self-extracting file will be extracted to C:\DCTaxes, which will be created automatically. Open the folder C:\DCTaxes . The tax file will be listed as xxName.dbf . The dbf file is ready to be imported to most Database or Spreadsheet programs. Parcel Card The downloadable Parcel Card file gives you the same information as the tax files but, only includes the primary owners. It also includes the number of units addressed under one parcel, the description of the building features codes for the particular piece of property, the actual year built of the structure, the finished square feet of the building(s) and acreage or square footage of the property.
